Great write up. Thanks for the help. I've been cramming and working on this art the last few months hoping to incorporate an SB700 into my senior shots this year to give them a little more pop. I need to play around with settings but I'm happy to know others are using this technique with success. (Just subscribed to your blog. )

I was stationed at Dolan Barracks in 1956-1958. I was in the 775th FA when it was sent back to the states. I have good memories of my time spent in the area. I have posted other comments but I don't see any comments about the area or units when I was there. I guess it was just too long ago.

There are a rare few people in my life that influenced me the way Herr Ritter did. I didn't realized it then but rarely pick up a camera today without using the things he taught me.

My studio is in Richland Hills, near the NE mall, come up and have a beer with me and toast Herr Ritter.

I understand that Herr Ritter started your interest in photography. I knew him from 1970 to 71 and he did the same for me but i went on to work in the aircraft industry. If you were there in 1973 then you may have seen him use his Pentax Spotmatic. I am the one that gave him that camera. I figured it was least I could do for all the knowledge he gave me. Did he ever tell you why he wore that brace on his forearm. The story he told me was that he was a bombadier and got shot up over England, or so I recall. He was a good friend to those that would listen. I will never forget him. He took the boredom out of working on the Shithooks (CH-47s for you tower guys). By the way, I live in Granbury. Have a good day, it was nice to see his name online.

Here are two apps you might be interested in.

iAlbum provides a beautiful way to organize and display your photos in a virtual photo album that's as intuitive and easy to use as the real thing. You can change covers, photo pages, photo corners, and even photo borders. Supports photo special effects, such as black & white and sepia.

Photo Shack is the perfect digital camera companion for the iPad. It allows you to view, sort, and organize your photos into custom folders. You can zoom to full resolution, add titles and comments to each photo. Rotate correct, email, and file transfer as well, all without duplicating a single photo.

Both are available in regular and Pro versions from Applgasm-Apps http://www.applgasm-apps.com

Hi Tara,

I was using the Cheetah 8. I've seen the larger ones "12?" and although they do weigh more than the 8 foot ones, if you're going to put any sort of modifier on them outside, I strongly recommend weighing them down or having someone hold on to it.

Can I ask which Cheetah Stand you were using? Do you feel there is a need for weight to be added to the heavy duty ones or just the C8?

Thanks!

Hey Ray,

I love my 24-70 as well. In the shots you posted above, were you using speedlights, or studio lights?

Thanks
